The JAR of Mexico celebrated the "IluminAR 2022" with the motto "Those who love walk, because we do not run to God with steps, but with love"

On June 4th and 5th, the Augustinian Recollect Youth -JAR- of the North and Central zone of Mexico celebrated the solemnity of Pentecost with the "IluminaR", a date marked on the calendar of this youth movement. Saint Augustine's phrase “Those who love to walk, because we do not run to God with steps, but with love”, inspired the dynamic celebration of these young people.

Queretaro

In the downtown area, Querétaro was the headquarters of the IluminAR, where young people from Mexico City (Avante, Churubusco and Tecamachalco) participated, the Recollect postulants, accompanied by their trainer Fray Jorge Quirós and the hosts, the JAR of the Parish of the Divine  Redeemer of Queretaro.

 

The youth meeting began on Saturday, June 4th, around 5:30 pm, in which Gustavo Camarena, Augustinian Recollect and national religious assistant of the JAR, welcomed and invited the Holy Spirit to touch the synodal path that the Church has undertaken. Later, the young Carolina Jaramillo from JAR Avante gave the talk "Young people and synodality: let's walk together with the Holy Spirit", and she highlighted the importance of young people as collaborators with the triple dimension of synodality: listening, discerning, walking. Finally, Carolina gave her testimony of how JARs can collaborate in diocesan environments.

At seven in the evening the young people participated in the Eucharist together with the parish community of the Divine Redeemer. The mass was presided over by Fray Javier Acero, vicar of Mexico-Costa Rica. During the homily he invited us to “reflect on three aspects that can help to “illuminate” youth environments and feel the presence.

 

After the Eucharist there was a moment of prayer in the Spirit led by the young people themselves and by Fray Gustavo Camarena. The prayer was marked by the reading of the story of Emmaus, highlighting the importance of the ardor of the heart while walking with Jesus, and by the story of Pentecost from the Acts of the Apostles, which highlighted the unity of the disciples in receiving the Holy Spirit. Holy. In addition, they prayed for the needs of the Church and could not miss the invocation of the Holy Spirit for those present.

The prayer vigil concluded with the renewal of the baptismal promises and with songs of praise, where the JARs expressed their joy for the gift of the Spirit.

At the end of the prayer, Fray Manuel Antonio Flores, the host parish priest, offered a dinner in which food was shared in an atmosphere of celebration and fraternity. At the end of the day, the JAR of Mexico City spent the night in the facilities of the San Pio X Seminary.

 

The next day, at half past nine in the morning, the JAR met again at the Divine Redeemer Parish to begin a pilgrimage to the Schoenstatt Marian shrine about six kilometers away. The walk began with a brief prayer and in which they were motivated to take the tour with the slogan "We walk together with Mary." Upon arrival at the site, the Eucharist of Pentecost was celebrated, presided over by Fray Gustavo Camarena and concelebrated by Fray Jorge Quirós and Fray Keneth Pahamutang, a Filipino who is in Mexico perfecting his Spanish before leaving for the mission in Cuba.

In the northern zone, the JAR lived the feast of the Holy Spirit with the celebration of the vigil of Pentecost. The JAR of Chihuahua, Chih. They met on the afternoon of Saturday May 4 in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary, attended by about thirty young people accompanied by Brother Germán Marquínez. They began with a moment of songs of praise; Later, Héber Hermosillo gave the theme "Illuminate our lives with the action of the Holy Spirit" and ended with the Pentecost prayer vigil.

In Ciudad Delicias (Chihuahua) a prayer vigil was organized together with adolescents who are preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation, the JAR themselves and some parishioners from the San Juan Diego Parish. The prayer was led by Brother Douglas Beard, and Brother Javier Ruiz gave a talk on the action of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the baptized.
