The Romareda School participates once again, after the break due to COVID-19, in the traditional offering of flowers to Our Lady of Pilar
The offering of flowers to Our Lady of Pilar, the most famous manifestation of popular fervor in Zaragoza, Spain, was held with restrictions due to the pandemic and without a large public. Indeed, the city's health administration only authorized 20,000 people to make the offering for 2021, which corresponds to 10% of those who traditionally participate in this act. A thousand groups, after a previous draw, were able to express their affection for the Virgin in the floral offering and dressed in their typical costumes.
The Romareda School was fortunate to be present one more year after the stoppage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Only twenty people per group were authorized to bring their offering to Santa María of Pilar. Thus, students, former students, parents, teachers and Augustinian Recollect friars of the Romareda College with great enthusiasm and devotion got up early to offer their bouquets of flowers to the Virgin and ask for her protection.
"Crossing the Santiago bridge and seeing the mantle of flowers with the Virgin on top is a difficult feeling to explain. It is emotion and joy at the same time," said one of the attendees. "I really wanted to be present; since I was three years old I have not missed the offering of flowers to the Pilarica; it was almost a necessity to see her there again and thank her for her protection," one of the teachers commented excitedly from college.
The offering was led by the Augustinian Recollect Sigifredo Udabe, who year after year is responsible for encouraging the entire school community to participate in this act of fervor to our Mother.
