Isaac and David made solemn vows in Queretaro, Mexico
The religious community of the Vocational House Saint Píus X, the educational community of the Fray Luis de León College, and the numerous members of the Augustinian Recollect Family in Querétaro (Mexico) celebrated with joy on Saturday, October 2nd, the lifelong incorporation of two new members to the Order of Augustinian Recollects.
Both are Mexican and reside and provide their services in this Queretaro community. They are Isaac Almaraz (Tequisquiapan, Querétaro, 1991) and David Molina (Mexico City, 1987). Before their profession they had sent a message asking for prayers and support in the face of the important vital step they were about to take:
From the morning prayer the local community was set in the day they were going to live. At that time the two religious lent their profession of faith, the community prayed for their perseverance and organized to make the final preparations.
Throughout the morning the guests arrived, about thirty from each of the families, and the same from religious of the communities in Mexico, the Council of the Augustinian-Recollects Secular Fraternity, the Pastoral Team of the College and its directors, the Augustinian Recollect Missionaries, the Augustinian Recollect Youth, the vocations in contact with the Vocational House...
The postulants of the Postulancy Saint Augustine of Mexico City had arrived days before in Querétaro to participate in a workshop on Enneagram. On the day of the profession they collaborated to get everything ready, for the liturgy in various services and for food.
At 12:30 the celebration began in the Auditorium of the College. Francisco Javier Acero, vicar of Mexico and Costa Rica, presided, accompanied by about thirty concelebrants. The choir of the College proposed a whole series of Augustinian songs, which contributed to the solemnization of the Eucharist.
The homily highlighted the importance of closeness, listening and attention to the needs of God's people. Afterwards the two candidates for solemn profession answered questions about their intentions, which they answered publicly, and then read the vows of their solemn profession.
Signed on the altar their commitments, through the rite of the welcome embrace they felt welcomed by the Order of Augustinian Recollects, well represented in the professed religious present.
After the final prayer, the new professed addressed the faithful. Isaac indicated that the celebration was neither a goal nor a starting point, but to give continuity to a call that began years ago, the following of Christ as an Augustinian Recollect. He thanked God for his call, his family (especially his parents), the friends and faithful present, the Augustinian Recollects and their formators, their religious community.
David was also pleased to have shared his decision with everyone present and proposed a prayer from Pierre Teilhard de Chardin meaningful to him, as a way to open his heart and trust in God. He thanked his family, the formators, his religious community, the educational community ("I will give everything for you so that together we may walk towards Christ"). He also indicated that he wants to give himself to the Church, to his current community and to all those who come ahead. He asked for forgiveness for the times he has not given a testimony of the baptized. And he asked to be a cheerful friar, in all his life as an Augustinian Recollect. He ended by telling a dream he had recently in which his father, who died three years ago, accompanied him on this day, present in the Auditorium.
At the end of the Mass there was a simple exhibition of vocational materials and there was time for congratulations. The food was somewhat restricted for prevention reasons and was attended by relatives, religious and closest guests, in the preschool playground.
