49 Students Receive the sacrament of Confirmation at Fray Luis de Leon School in Queretaro (Mexico).
Complying with the safety protocols due to the pandemic, facemasks were used by all the candidates and their sponsors.
The ceremony took place at 6 pm. Bishop Fidencio was accompanied by Friar Ramon Jimenez, Augustinian Recollect, who also presented the candidates after the gospel reading. David Suarez, Erick Jimenez and Saul Gonzalez, postulant seminarians served as altar boys.
The celebration of the sacrament was emotional and meaningful for the newly confirmed youth. The bishop of Querétaro was able to touch the assembly´s hearts through his homily and the solemnity of the celebration of the sacraments. The bishop encouraged everyone to pray and asked God to give them all the strength of his Spirit. Before the anointing of the chrism oil, Bishop Fidencio prepared the candidates for the moment to follow, inviting them to live the rite thinking of how they will live the mission they are called for: to bear witness to the Gospel and to bring holiness to the world.
These candidates´ catechesis was held virtually, and Friar David Molina, Augustinian Recollect, was the instructor. Bishop asked Friar David to come forward with the other pastoral team members for a special blessing: Amelia Martínez, Sandra López, and Felipe Mejía. This spontaneous blessing was done during the prayer of the faithful.
To end the liturgy, one of the 49 newly confirmed youth was asked to come forward to do a thanksgiving prayer in the name of the whole group. Friar Ramon Jimenez, school director, delivered a few words of gratitude to the bishop and everyone who made this celebration possible.
