Jesús Emmanuel Mendoza made the solemn profession of evangelical councils and enters the Order of Augustinian Recollects in perpetuity.
The celebration of the solemn profession and definitive entry into the Order of the Augustinian Recollects of Jesus Emmanuel Mendoza (Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico, 1992) it was presided over by the delegate of the Province of Saint Nicholas of Tolentine of that Order in Brazil, Juan Cruz Vicario, and counted with the participation of direct relatives, pastoral agents, movements and parish services who wanted to witness this moment of great emotion and love to God of the new profess.
Jesus (as he is affectionately known in the parish) comes from a simple, Catholic and devoted family of Our Lady of Guadalupe, whose image was specially represented on the altar.
He began his vocational journey in the Postulancy program at San Pio X of Querétaro, Mexico at the age of 15. In 2014 he entered the novitiate in Monteagudo (Navarra, Spain) and a year later professed in the Order with the issuance of temporary votes. He then moved to the Saint Augustine Formation House in Las Rozas (Madrid), where he deepened the study of Theology.
In 2019 he was destined to live the year of pastoral and community integration, the last experience within the initial training scheme of the Order, in the Parish of Saint Rita de Casia of Manaus (Amazonas, Brazil). This is where he has carried out his definitive consecration.
Jesus and his family were very well received by this community in a celebration lovingly prepared for such a special moment in the life of a religious. It was broadcast live on the social networks of the Parish and the Religious Province to which he belongs, in order to bring closer people of the family, friends, companions and acquaintances of Jesus who were far from Manaus.
After the proclamation of the Gospel of St. John, the delegate of the Province in Brazil solemnly asked the candidate if, after the end of the time of previous experience in community, it was his desire to return to civil society or commit himself definitively and permanently to the charism and life of the Augustinian Recollects.
Deeply excited Jesús and convinced of his decision, Jesus reaffirmed before all to remain in religious life and follow the path that God had proposed to him through the perpetual profession of evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity and obedience.
In the homily, the prior of the local community and parish priest of Saint Rita highlighted the main aspects of religious life, with a catechesis on vows. At one point, John, the Vicar passed the witness of the word to Jesus to present to all the meaning in his life of the vow of chastity. He replied as well:
"The vow of chastity is just like the others, they are only one and it is not possible to try to understand them separately. They represent how Jesus lived and acted in his life. That's what I'm trying to do: follow Jesus. I want to be another Christ for others and may my heart be for all; I do not want a selfish or individual heart, but a heart where all who desire to know Jesus come in, or all who let me know Jesus through their lives."
After the homily ended and after the public display of his desire to remain forever in the Augustinian Recollect Family, Jesus prostrated himself on the ground and the community prayed with him so that he could faithfully fulfill his purpose of following Christ.
After the litany of the Saints, Jesus solemnly read the formula of the written profession of his handwriting, signed it, and the president of the celebration received the candidate and welcomed him on behalf of the provincial prior and the prior general of the Order of Augustinian Recollects.
The mother, sisters, and niece of Jesus were present and were in charge of carrying, very excitedly, the offerings at the altar. After the rite of communion came the time for thanks. Jesus Emmanuel said:
"I thank eternally the Lord for the gift of life, for my parents who, though with difficulty, accepted this dream of God in me. I am sure that my father, from heaven, intercedes for me and takes care of my steps, as he did during the time he was among us.
I thank God for my mother here... Also the Order of Augustinian Recollects, who welcomed me and accepted me to be with them one heart.
I sincerely thank all those who have prayed for me..."
The thank you speech was closed with the new solemn profess and the whole community praying together for vocations to Consecrated Augustinian Recollect life. A few words of affection and thanks followed the family of Jesus, the song of congratulations to the professed, the Consecration to Our Lady and the final blessing.
