Meeting of vocational animation teams in central Mexico
Year after year, two meetings of the vocational animation teams of the communities of central Mexico are held. On this occasion, the meeting was held at the Postulancy Saint Augustin, Mexico City.
The vocational teams of the following communities met; Jesus Christ Crucified Church of the Avante neighborhood of southern Mexico City, Our Lady of Guadalupe of Hospitals, Tecamachalco and the Pueblito San Miguel of Mexico State. In addition, Santa Rita and Virgen de Guadalupe of Cuernavaca, Morelos, the Divine Redeemer of Lomas de Casablanca, Querétaro, as well as the Augustinian Recollect contemplative sisters of the monastery of Cuernavaca and Tecamachalco of Mexico State.
Twenty-Five lay members of the vocational teams attended. Three local religious counselors were also present: Friar Miguel Contreras of the Cuernavaca team, Friar Ignacio Jiménez of the Avante team and FriarOrlando Villalobos of the Hospitals community team.
The gathering was convened by the Augustinian recollect Fabián Martín, vocational coordinator in central Mexico. The workshop began at 10 a.m. with a short prayer entitled "The Prayer of the Vocational Animator".Friar Fabián then presented a proposal in which local communities must develop the ministry of vocational animation, and which responds to the methodology of the Augustinian Recollect Vocational Itinerary –IVAR.
After a brief break, participants continued to the postulancy’s chapel. There the Augustinian sisters of Tecamachalco held an hour of worship before the Most Holy Sacrament: their invitation was to cultivate before the Lord their own vocation and then help others to awaken to the call.
In the last part of the morning, a proposal for vocational discernment from the spirituality of St Augustine was presented in broader terms.
At around 2 p.m. a meal was shared with the Augustinian-recollect candidates who reside in the host house itself.
Work continued at four p.m. Once again, Friar Fabián resumed the path to Augustinian-style vocational discernment proposal, and developed it systematically.
The meeting concluded with the celebration of the Eucharist presided over by Friar Fabian. The Augustinian recollect Orlando Villalobos preached and invited all the vocational animators to commit themselves to the way of loving that Christ proposes in his Gospel, God the Father, who brings out the sun on good and bad, and who sends rain upon the just and the unjust.
