50 years of Romareda HIgh School. Augustinian Recollects. Saragossa, Spain.

For half a century, thousands of Aragonese families have been part of a living and constantly adapting educational and evangelizing community, faithful to its educational ideals and committed to the local society and to building a supportive and just world.

The Romareda High School of the Augustinian Recollects in Saragossa (population 727,000), the capital of Aragon, in Spain, aims to offer each of its students a comprehensive educational process encompassing all dimensions of the person: intellectual, human, social and spiritual.

Augustinian pedagogy, inspired by the thought of Saint Augustine, places the person at the center of educational work, fosters self-knowledge through exploration of one’s own interiority, and then goes out into social life through dialogue, community values, and the shared search for truth.

Throughout these five decades, the Romareda educational project has remained true to its principles while realistically and responsibly adapting to the profound social, legislative and cultural changes of the society it serves and in which it is fully integrated.

In accordance with successive organic laws of education in Spain and technical and social advances, Romareda has constantly adapted its infrastructure, methodologies, programs and management, but without losing its Augustinian-Recollect identity or its vocation of service to society and families.

In this report we present this half-century history and an approach to the reality of the educational mission, difficult and committed, full of challenges and joys, a source of constant progress and adaptation but with fixed values valid and necessary for all generations.
