Winter mission 2024. ARY Chihuahua. Augustinian Recollects. Mexico.

From December 14 to 22, twelve young people from the Augustinian-Recollect Youth of the Parish of Christ the Supreme and Eternal Priest of the city of Chihuahua traveled to the mountains to share their faith and strengthen their charismatic Recollect ties.

On Saturday, December 14, twelve young people belonging to the Augustinian Recollect Youth (ARY-JAR) of Chihuahua City traveled to the town of Miñaca, located within the Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of La Junta, thus beginning their winter mission 2024.

Around 16:30 in the afternoon they were already at their destination and settled in the Chapel of Our Lady of Fatima of the small mountain community, where they immediately received a warm welcome that made them feel at home.

During the following week these young people were going to share life and faith with the local community. On December 15, after celebrating the mass of the II Sunday of Advent, they offered some initial training topics to the community shortly before touring the town to meet the families and get a better understanding.

On December 16, they began the program established in the days of prior preparation. Thus, in the mornings, they visited the houses with the aim of introducing themselves, sharing a short reflection with the gospel of the day and inviting people to participate in the afternoon activities.

These began at three with catechism for children, youth, and adults. At five, the Eucharist was celebrated and the day ended with attendance at the traditional posadas organized by the town.

In the evening, already in the small group, an evaluation was scheduled in which, whoever wanted to, recounted their experiences and learnings of the day and the details for the following day were adjusted.

On Saturday afternoon, the 21st, a posada with a pastoral play was organized. It was a unique moment of fellowship with the people, where there was an opportunity to express deep gratitude for their love, generosity and hospitality.

On Sunday the 22nd, after the morning celebration and the tidying up and cleaning of the place, food and basic goods were distributed to the most vulnerable families; the meal was made with the Augustinian Recollect community of La Junta, and then they continued on their way to the state capital, home of the participants of this winter mission.

An experience that allowed these young people to live in community, practice the gifts of fraternity and solidarity, grow and learn together and strengthen their own ties as members of the Augustinian Recollect Youth.
