The Christmas meals, traditional in Spain for groups of friends and company workers, bring together former students from the two schools of the Augustinian Recollects in these cities, both under the name of Saint Augustine, in Valladolid and Chiclana de la Frontera.
In Valladolid, a good number of representatives from different promotions attend the traditional dinner of the Association of Former Students, ALARVA, every year, with a greater presence of the youngest and with a group of very constant veterans who never fail. They are also accompanied by members of the current management team.
The party began with the delivery of souvenirs, bracelets and key chains, before moving on to the dining room of the School itself to enjoy the delicious dinner for a hundred people provided by the company Seresca with a menu for the day.
A raffle and a bingo of Christmas songs were then held, the winner of which was the one who had the greatest number of songs on their ballot. Each gift delivery was enlivened by songs performed by everyone. The party continued in the city until dawn.
ALARVA regularly participates in the training dynamics of the School, especially in open days, in the celebration of the anniversaries of promotions and in advisory activities so that current students have a clearer idea of how to decide their future when choosing the studies offered, receiving the testimony of today’s professionals in various areas who previously went through Saint Augustine High School.
In Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz) on December 27, the III Meeting of former students of the School was held, with 65 participants. Although there is not yet a formal Association in this Center, in 2019 they called their first Christmas dinner for former students.
Due to the pandemic, the second one was not held until 2023 and in 2024 they have had the third edition, as on previous occasions in a restaurant in the town. These contacts encourage, in the future, with the advice of other alumni groups, perhaps an attempt to formalize an Association with more continuous activities.
