The educational center has hosted the eleventh edition of the Augustinian meeting organized by the Secular Fraternity and, a few days later, the Solidarity Heart Day and the opening of the missionary month coinciding with the official visit of the prior general for the renewal of his ministry.
Around 350 people met at the XI Augustinian Meeting organized by the Secular Fraternity of Saint Magdalene of Nagasaki that took place on September 29. The entire Augustinian Recollect Family in Queretaro and members of the educational community of the Fray Luis de Leon High School were invited.
The event had as an incentive the collaboration with the Center for Accompaniment and Recovery of Integral Development (CARDI), a socio-health project of the Augustinian Recollects in Mexico City.
On Sunday morning all the details were finalized. The Secular Fraternity and the Augustinian-Recollect Youth (ARY-JAR) prepared everything so that, at 1:00 p.m., in the Auditorium of the College, the Eucharistic celebration would begin.
After the liturgical celebration, everyone went to the facilities of the religious house of Saint Pius X where, in different stands decorated with images of Augustinian saints, a wide variety of food, desserts and typical fruit drinks were offered.
During the gathering there was fun for children, young people and adults: regional dances, ballet, magic and musical performances, all by volunteers and local groups. At around 7:00 p.m. the activities ended.
At the beginning of October, the prior general of the Augustinian Recollects, Miguel Ángel Hernández, arrived at the Recollect community of Saint Pius X to make the official renewal visit, within his schedule of visits to Mexico.
His presence and his important role representing the entire Augustinian-Recollect Family in the world served to encourage with greater effort the opening of the ARCORES 2024 Solidarity Day. Thus, on that same opening day of the renewal visit, a missionary Rosary took place that opened the activities of the solidarity day.
The prior general, Miguel Ángel Hernández, with his secretary, Luciano Audisio, received a warm welcome from the students before the rosary began. In the school auditorium there was representation from all educational stages (Pre-school, Primary, Secondary and Preparatory), dressed in one of the colours that symbolize humanity in all its races and cultures.
During the event, the mission of the Augustinian Recollects in Shangqiu (Henan, China), which is currently celebrating its first centenary, was of special relevance. Prayers were offered for all the missions of the Church and in particular for those of the Augustinian Recollect Family and for that of China.
ARCORES, the Augustinian Recollect International Solidarity Network, presented an informative video followed by an awareness conference so that the spirit of solidarity is never lacking among those who study at the Fray Luis de Leon School, as an indispensable part of the comprehensive and values-based education they receive, complementing the academic subjects.
The day had an active solidarity component with the delivery of hygiene items, food and medicines for the Center for Accompaniment and Comprehensive Development Recovery (CARDI) of the Augustinian Recollects in Mexico City, one of the most important projects of ARCORES Mexico.
The Auditorium had been decorated by the Pastoral Coordination with a rosary with enormous Augustinian hearts. The prior general thanked everyone for their presence and encouraged solidarity, as a fully Augustinian value, to be part of the hearts and minds of those present at the event.
At the end of this spiritual and solidarity act, the prior general toured the facilities of the School accompanied by students from each section, who in addition to explaining the stays and details about their educational work, resolved his doubts and attended to his comments.
The Prior General then met with the school’s management team and received additional information about the Evening Secondary School, a socio-educational project with scholarship students, which had celebrated the International Day of Peace in a special way a week earlier. The students were then motivated to live peace as a way of life, as a continuing attitude, as a way of promoting the culture of balance and stability.
Naturally, the Prior General also had personal and community meetings with the Augustinian-Recollect religious community of Saint Pius X, which has 14 members, some of whom receive special care due to their age or health.
He also enjoyed meetings with the rest of the Augustinian Recollect Family, the Secular Fraternity and the Augustinian Recollect Youth (ARY-JAR).
