Following a prior agreement with the Archbishop, on July 31, the Augustinian Recollect nuns of Santiago Tepeyahualco (Zempoala, Hidalgo) blessed the first stone of the chapel of their monastery of Christ the King and Saint Clara of the Cross of Montefalco, a place of exceptional value for a contemplative community.
On July 31, at noon, the celebration of the blessing rite and the thanksgiving mass began. Monsignor Domingo Díaz Martínez, the apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Tulancingo, Hidalgo, presided; two Augustinian Recollects, Gerardo Ruiz, and Alfredo Leiton, concelebrated; priests of the Archdiocese of Tulancingo and Huejutla, religious priests servants of the Word and Korean religious residents in this Archdiocese. Twenty in total.
Julio Uribe Barroso donated the stone, for which he was granted the title of godfather, which the honoree considered a great undeserved honor. The blessing was performed within the novena of Our Lady of the Angels, patron saint of the Archdiocese of Tulancingo.
Augustinian Recollects from the monasteries of Macuxtepetla, Tlaxcala, and Tecamachalco, people from the town of Tepeyahualco, community benefactors, and some family members attended this celebration. The Act of blessing was read and signed by some of the concelebrants, by Gerardo Ruiz, religious assistant of the Augustinian Recollect nuns of the Federation of Mexico, by Rosa María Mora Correa, federal president, and by some prioresses.
The Eucharistic celebration, within its simplicity, acquired special solemnity through the participation of those present and the music directed by the young Alfredo Agustín Curiel Hernández, who was accompanied by the teacher Ana Islas Romero and Luis Martín Olvera Islas.
Domingo Díaz Martínez’s homily revolved around faith, hope, and charity. He invited the sisters to live these so that they would take deep roots and bear fruit, like well-rooted trees. The preacher encouraged the sisters to maintain a winning mentality without hesitation. After the celebration, everyone participated in a snack, in which the food was donated by various generous people, a means that Divine Providence served on this occasion to celebrate a delicious meal. The singer enlivened the meal time Francisco Garnica Pérez, who made his art available to the Recollect community.
