Iban de la Horra, a professor at the College, with his project on mathematical metaverse, has achieved this distinction for the educational center for its digital approach to improve spatial understanding in geometry.
The organization of Catholic Schools of Castille and Leon, in collaboration with the Miguel de Cervantes European University (UEMC), has decided to grant the first Good Teaching Practices Award for Educational Innovation 2024 to Saint Augustine School of the Augustinian Recollects in Valladolid.
This award recognizes those projects whose methods and themes are especially innovative and have space within their educational network, composed mainly of Catholic charter educational centers.
The award was officially presented during the XIV Exchange Day of Good Teaching Practices. The winning project, titled “VR-MAT 4.0: Metaverse mathematical” and coordinated by Professor Ibán de la Horra, uses a digital approach to improve spatial understanding in geometry.
The teaching project includes a complementary textbook, interactive flashcards in geometry, an online support platform with more educational resources, and a digital multiverse hosting all academic content.
Upon receiving this award, De la Horra highlighted the importance of collaboration and of self-learning in the digital environment, ensuring his project can adapt to any subject and educational level beyond geometry and mathematics.
So, for the next course, he plans to expand the content and scenarios to include more students, reinforcing the integration of digital technologies into education and promoting more interactive and meaningful learning.
This award is received when the 2023-2024 academic year is about to end. Thus, on May 24, the graduation ceremony was held for the students who left the college and headed for new academic and professional challenges to finish their school years.
Family members, teachers, classmates, and the Augustinian-Recollect religious community do not want to miss the opportunity to congratulate the new graduates in a ceremony that included a Eucharist of thanksgiving, motivational speeches and gratitude, delivery of scholarships, photocall and agape in the school cafeteria.
Saint Augustine School says goodbye to another promotion, but its doors remain open for its former students with various services and proposals through its organization. For those who will continue in the classrooms, the prize received ensures continued improvement, promotion and updating of its comprehensive education offer.
