This initiative serves to make the JAR known in the parish community and promote the Recollect Youth movement among young people, achieving greater visibility; for obtaining resources to finance activities, and to train in co-responsibility to the JAR members themselves.
Last February 25, the Second Sunday of Lent, the members of the Augustinian-Recollect Youth (ARY) in the capital of the state of Chihuahua, Mexico, launched their offer of enchiladas to the parish community.
Enchiladas are one of the most popular dishes in Mexican cuisine. They are made with corn tortillas rolled or folded and dipped in spicy sauce. They present a wide variety of styles since they can be accompanied or filled with meat, cheese, or cooked vegetables; and are accompanied by some additional garnish, such as fresh chopped or sliced onion, lettuce, heavy cream and/or cheese.
During the morning, the ARY offered enchilada dishes for 45 pesos (€2.5). In addition, they prepared in full view of everyone in a tent located in the courtyard of the catechesis rooms of the parish temple of Christ the High and Eternal Priest.
All the parishioners could see the ARY group organizing, talking, cooperating, and coordinating for the activity, which is also a form of promoting one’s group among young people, seeing the joy and experience of the Augustinian values live.
All stages of the JAR collaborated in the activity, as well as some adults from the small Communities of Evangelization of the Parish. The resources that were obtained will be used to carry out Holy Week and Easter youth.
This is a very special time for the JAR Chihuahua since it will understand various activities such as a Youth Mission in the municipality of Guerrero between March 27 and 31 and, within the Parish, some massive events, such as the staged Via Crucis that attract hundreds of people.
