The Augustinian-Recollect Youth (JAR) of Ciudad Chihuahua continue to grow, and thirteen young people have experienced an Oasis retreat the weekend of January 13 and 14 as previous step to become a pre-community.
Thirteen young people from the Parish of Christ High and Eternal Priest of Chihuahua (Mexico) have participated in the first of the two special Oasis retreats with which may constitute in the future a new pre-community according to the Itinerary of the Augustinian-Recollect Youth, the youth movement of the Augustinian Recollect Family.
The multiple activities room of the temple of Christ the Prophet was the space where the retreat developed, which had three main topics that were taught by Diana Mendoza, the Augustinian Recollect Rodolfo Yela and Héber Hermosillo.
The rest of the time was dedicated to moments of individual and community prayer, to various dynamics and games with training content and community coexistence. Édgar Chávez, JAR coordinator in Ciudad Chihuahua, accompanied them throughout moment.
At the end of the retreat they decided to give their pre-community a name and patron saint: Saint Alonso de Orozco. And they ended with participation in the Eucharist of the Sunday parish community.
The Oasis retreats have different objectives depending on the stage in which the participants are within the ARY Itinerary. For example, in the case of the Milan stage the Oasis themes focus on friendship and the group experience.
All Oasis retreats consist of talks and participatory dynamics; dialogues of personal evaluation and group trajectory; acquisition of a bigger and better knowledge of Saint Augustine, his life and thoughts; accentuation of the process of feeling part of an intimate JAR community and a larger community that is the Church.
In Oasis retreats there are usually vocational testimonies from the various states of life. Participants learn to build a life project and are encouraged to be proactive and participate in building the ARY movement itself by offering opinions, experiences, proposals.
