Visit of the Mexican representative Margarita Zavala to CARDI, Mexico City. December, 2023.

On December 14, Margarita Zavala visited the CARDI facilities, in the company of the Augustinian Recollects Martín Luengo, vicar of Mexico-Costa Rica, and Refugio González, executive director of CARDI.

The day began with a sharing with the CARDI beneficiaries, where Margarita Zavala was able to learn up close the circumstances of each beneficiary and the dedication of the volunteers who work to serve all people trying to improve the quality of life of those who face difficult situations in the hospitals.

During her visit, Margarita expressed that she has loved CARDI for a long time, highlighting the importance of its service and mission in building a more just and equitable society.

“It is inspiring to see how institutions like CARDI accompany the lives of the people most in need.”

The highlight of the day was a meal in which Margarita Zavala shared friendly moments with the members of CARDI and the beneficiaries of the service. During the meal, some beneficiaries came to share with her and thank her for her visit.

CARDI, whose mission is to provide comprehensive support to vulnerable people, has been playing a crucial role in caring for family members of patients in hospitals. Margarita Zavala’s visit not only reinforces the institution’s commitment to its beneficiaries, but also highlights the importance of collaboration between benefactors, collaborators, facilitators and volunteers to achieve a lasting positive impact.

Margarita Zavala is a Mexican lawyer and politician, CARDI benefactor. She was first lady from 2006 to 2012 and has never left politics aside. She is currently a federal representative for the district of Hidalgo in CDMX.
