Assembly of Central Mexico. Augustinian Recollects. 2023.

From November 23 to 25, the assembly of the central Mexico zone was held in the Saint Augustine Postulancy of Mexico City, to which the communities of Mexico City, Cuernavaca and the two of Querétaro gathered. Fourteen religious attendees were represented, all communities.

The activities began on Monday, the 23rd, at 10:00 am. Martín Luengo, vicar of Mexico-Costa Rica, shared a reflection to help participants understand wow is religious life currently.

Each of the participants was then invited to think about the why they had attended the assembly. It was a very illuminating moment, since it became clear manifested what each one was experiencing in their communities.

These activities were motivational to guide and revitalize the Recollect communities.

After this, the work of analysis and reflection on the topics began:

1- Objectives

2- Friars and local communities

3- Vocational ministry

4- Synodality and laity

5- Elderly and/or sick religious

We worked on these issues and concluded with several proposals to improve some aspects and seek to give new life to the various ministries.

Between the work sessions there were spaces for fraternity, prayer, reflection and even sport, which some friars practiced with the young postulants. On Wednesday morning, the proposals and work methods were defined. The assembly came to an end with the fraternal meal.
