Tlaxcala, Mexico. Federation of contemplative Augustinian Recollects. October 2023.

The Augustinian Recollect communities of the monasteries of the Federation of Mexico were invited to participate in the Workshop-Meeting of vocational promoters held from October 19 to 23 at the San José monastery in Tlaxcala, which was by taught David Molina Olvera and Isaac Almaraz Pinal, Augustinian Recollects, in charge of the Pastoral Youth and Vocational Ministry, respectively, in the Vicariate of Mexico-Costa Rica.

23 sisters from the monasteries of the Mexican Republic of Mexico participated in the meeting. in person and electronically, the communities of Colombia, Puebla and Tepeyahualco.

The theme of these days, considered from a theoretical point of view, depended on David Molina; of practice responded Isaac Almaraz, who has consolidated experience in vocational work. They both successfully combined the talks of both types.

It began from the reality in which today’s youth finds itself and the situation of communities, along with the materials and tools with which a vocational promoter account for accompaniment. According to these two speakers, we will have to have present in the accompaniment at least five topics to work on: sexual knowledge, affectivity, bodily health, emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence; topics that the promoter must also have worked or in the process of working, in order to be able to provide the support that is necessary today to help discern the path vocation of the young woman.

In the workshop the option was given to share the work experience in accompaniment and perceived the need to draw lines of action based on the situation in which found in each monastery and in coordination with diocesan consecrated life.

David and Isaac stressed the importance of becoming aware that today is the time to sow and plow and, “perhaps we will not have to harvest as we expect, but not “You don’t have to lose hope that the fruits will come later.”

There was awareness of the need to work with the laity and an openness to share our spirituality by forming the Secular Augustinian-Recollect Fraternities (FSAR) and the Augustinian-Recollect Youth (JAR), and in this way also promote the dissemination of the Augustinian Recollect charisma so that it continues to have life in the church.

An unforgettable feature of “vocational culture” properly understood: vocations are for Church, and the Spirit is given to whom he wants and how he wants, beyond a simple vocational proselytism. The vocational culture is making its way, and the next step consists of moving from the figure of the vocational animator to the vocational community, since We all personally received the call in the community. For this reason it is important review one’s own lifestyle in the light of vocational spirituality, so that the Recollect communities prepare to be vocational communities. In turn, this encouraged all members of the community to get involved in the task of vocational animation.

In addition to the knowledge obtained in this Workshop-Meeting of promoters, one of the also important purposes of the formation was the fraternal coexistence that was experienced during these five days.
