The 2023 Vocational Meetings process of the Delegation of Costa Rica, which was carried out held from October 20 to 22 at the Saint Ezekiel Moreno seminary, in Pozos de Santa Ana, San José, ended with the retreat “I have a mission in life” in which 11 young people participated from various places in Costa Rica and whose objective was to provide them the personal tools of self-knowledge for a mature vocational response.

Under the motto I have a mission in life, the vocational retreat was focused on providing psycho-spiritual means to young people in the process of discernment for a conscious discernment will give a vocational response within the Church.

The retreat had as its pillar the Confessions of Saint Augustine and sought to ensure that the participants develop their life story, from childhood to a life project for the future. The retreat began on Friday night, the 20th, with the preparation talk focused on Augustinian interiority, presented by Alberto Valecillos, Augustinian Recollect.

On Saturday morning, the first part of life was addressed with the workshop the inner child, guided by Víctor González, an Augustinian Recollect, who helped the boys to reconcile with their childhood and to recognize what may prevent them from a mature vocational response.

The second part of the retreat, focused on book X of the Confessions of Saint Augustine, and which was called “My present”, it sought to get each participant to position themselves in their current situation in relation to what was experienced in childhood. This second workshop was taught by Dr. Ericka Guerrero, a fraternal Augustinian Recollect.

Saturday night was the moment of connection with the Holy Scripture through the Augustinian prayer that was developed and directed by Sister María José Tapia, Augustinian Recollect nun and member of the Vocational Animation Team (EAV) of Pozos of Santa Ana.

On Sunday, October 22, the closing day of the retreat, three activities were held: a talk on “The Images of God”; the workshop “I have a mission in life”, which he offered to the middle boys for the development of a life project; and the celebration of the Eucharist, which brought the entire 2023 meeting process to a festive close.
