Augustinian retreat for collaborators and volunteers of the ministries of Mexico City. Augustinian Recollects. August 2023.

The House of Recollection of Ahuatepec (Morelos, Mexico) has received from August 18 to 20, 35 pastoral agents accompanied by the CEAR-Mexico City team for an Augustinian retrea in silence.

The team from the Augustinian-Recollect Center of Spirituality (CEAR) in Mexico City organized an Augustinian retreat to meet the request of many of the pastoral agents, collaborators, volunteers and members of the pastoral teams of the parishes where the Augustinian Recollects work in Mexico City and the State of Mexico.

The pandemic had interrupted this type of events of a spiritual and modal nature face-to-face, who with this activity have recovered. The House of Recollection opened its doors from August 18 to 20 in a special edition in which 35 pastoral agents participated, accompanied by two Augustinian Recollect religious, Óscar Castellanos and Sergio Sánchez.

Although most of those present came from the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe from Colonia Hospitales, there was also representation from the Parishes of Avante, Saint Monica and Churubusco in Mexico City and Tecamachalco in Naucalpan, State of Mexico.

This Augustinian Retreat was based on the materials of the Augustinian Spiritual Exercises of the current course, under the motto “Together”. The theme was “Making the charism come to life from the Gospel”.

During three intense days, the Augustinian Recollect Sergio Sánchez, president of the Secretariat of Spirituality and Ongoing Formation of the Province of Saint Nicholas of Tolentine of the Order of the Augustinian Recollects, placed particular emphasis on the practice of Lectio divina both for the personal prayer and for group and community growth.

The attitude and desire of the laity to nurture their life of faith and revitalize their pastoral activities fostered an atmosphere of intense prayer and reflection, from which everyone emerged enriched. All made an effort to take the time and look for the resources to enjoy these dedicated days to cultivate their relationship with the Lord.

The pleasant climate of Cuernavaca and the peaceful stillness of the House of Recollection favor the recollection and coexistence. The Augustinian Recollect spirituality, which combines fraternity and interiority, community experience and inner wealth, did the rest so that everyone could go out satisfied with the experience.
