On June 31 at night, in the Chidren city gym’s, socio-educational center run by the Augustinian Recollects, a cultural event was held that included young people, collaborators and special guests, in order to show in a creative, dynamic and the legacy of this institution differently, show the reality of CDN and offer all the information what to know for admissions for 2024.
The Boys’ Town, with more than 65 years of history, has become an ideal home to transform lives. For this reason, his legacy is very rich. As proof of this, during the cultural act, various emotional videos to show the life of Boys’ Town graduates throughout history and the indelible mark that has allowed them to become agents of change, for their families, jobs, etc.
Present at the event were Mr. Milton Quesada, Mr. Jesús Quirós, Miguel Solano, Mr. Bryan Bejarano, the Augustinian Recollect Eddy Angulo, don Ricardo Calderón and don Gregorio Gaitán (these 2 past current Boys’ Town contributors). Manfred García and Cristian Valverde sent their videos and best wishes, although they could not be present.
In addition, Javier Mendoza and Geiner Montero, two graduates, made an artistic representation in which he dazzled his musical talent. The institution thanks you for your exhibition and talented participation at this event.
Then a testimonial video was projected on what life is like for a young man within Boys’ Town and how their families support their being in this institution. This will be the main promotional video of the admission process with the objective of observing details of the integral life and of the training received by adolescents in the CRC.
In this last testimonial video, the “mothers” intervened and told directly how difficult it was to is to leave their children at such an important stage, but also the trust that each day in the more than 130 collaborators and 5 friars who carry out the process of each young person. Another video reflected what the word “accompaniment” symbolizes for the Augustinian Recollects.
It was providential that the Prior General of the Order, Fray Miguel, was present at the event. Ángel Hernández, who spent several days sharing with collaborators and residents, together with the Secretary General, Friar Luciano M. Audisio. The prior general addressed a few words to those present and the same as fray Jesús María Ramos Leza, director of the institution.
And as a closing, a black theater was represented with the participation of twelfth-year youth and of the human educator Rebeca Barrantes. The organization of the event thanked all the special guests for their presence: the board of directors from Boys’ Town: Mrs. Marcela Arrieta Quesada, Mrs. Dinorah Castro, Mr. Luis Enrique Brenes Varga and his his wife, fray Miguel Ángel Hernández and fray Luciano M. Audisio.
