From July 17 to 22, ten young people from the Augustinian Recollect Youth from Chihuahua, Chih., carried out their summer mission in CARDI, A.C., happily involving themselves in the tasks of this socio-sanitary project.
One of the distinctive notes of the ARY is the mission. This dimension of the ARY implies a total availability at the service of the Church, actively collaborating in the missions and other ministries of the entire Augustinian Recollect Family.
As missionaries, this 2023 they carried out the summer mission at the Center for Accompaniment and Recovery of Integral Development, A. C. -CARDI-, undertaking the long journey to get from Chihuahua to Mexico City to attend to the various services that CARDI provides to the relatives of hospital patients.
During the week they had face-to-face contact with the reality of the people who come to CARDI daily, feeling with their own lives the need that people have to be heard, take a bath, wash their clothes and even the relief of being able to count with the treatment of their relatives.
During their stay at CARDI, the ten young people served bread and coffee in the morning to the people who came to the institution to satisfy their hunger a bit. In the service area, they shared their stories with family members, relieved a little by listening and gave joy with the services for the beneficiaries. Special mention was made to the hard work they did at the dispensary, delivering the medicines prescribed in the medical prescriptions that arrived, as well as the classification and arrangement of the medicines that arrived to be able to provide them at the right time.
It is hoped that this experience has served as an enrichment so that they will repeat next year 2024 at CARDI, where they are welcomed with open arms.
