From May 20 to 29, a representative team from the Comprehensive Development Support and Recovery Center, A.C. (CARDI, A.C.) visited the religious communities that the Augustinian Recollects serve in the cities of Chihuahua, Delicias, Cuauhtémoc and La Junta in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico.
The objective was to publicize the work that CARDI A.C. It has been developing with the relatives of the hospitalized patients in the hospitals close to the area: Hospital Siglo XXI, Hospital General de México and the Children’s Hospital, for 17 years in the Colonia Doctores, Alcaldía Cuauhtémoc in Mexico City.
CARDI was born as a response to a challenge that the Social Pastoral raised in terms of material and spiritual care for the less favored in the Hospital area. The Augustinian Recollects of the Vicariate of Mexico and Costa Rica adopted this task not as the work of just one, but as a response of all the Recollect communities to a palpable need in the society of that time and which continues to this day.
The communities of the state of Chihuahua could not be left out of this social project, so in this year 2023, after 17 years, since the founding of CARDI, for the first time this visit was made in which the work was made known. group of religious and lay people to maintain this work.
Economic collaboration was requested through the collections made in the various parishes and chapels of said communities attended by the Augustinian Recollect friars. Feeling the same cause together, as the Augustinian Recollect Family, the response received from all the faithful is not surprising, the interest shown in the work and the various congratulations received for the work carried out.
We thank all those who helped with their contributions and prayers, which are no less important, to such a praiseworthy task.
CARDI A.C. Since its foundation, it has received at its facilities many people from the state of Chihuahua who for various health reasons have had to travel to Mexico City hoping to find the necessary medical attention that was not possible in their places of origin. CARDI hopes to continue supporting everyone who comes to the facilities that is “everyone’s home in the big city.”
We also thank the CARDI team that arranged to make this visit, dedicating their time and effort so that this work could be carried out. Thanks mainly to Isabel Ruiz, Magda López, Monserrat Ramírez, Tona and Fray Refugio González, an Augustinian Recollect.
