La Ciudad de los Niños de los Agustinos Recoletos en Costa Rica recibe la placa de Isabel La Católica del Gobierno de España.

On May 14, the socio-educational institution Ciudad de los Niños -CDN- (Boys’ Town), administered by the Augustinian Recollects, was decorated by the Spanish Embassy in Costa Rica with the plaque of honor of the Order of Isabella the Catholic in recognition of the work carried out in favor of disadvantaged adolescents-young people in families and society.

The CDN institution has worked for more than 60 years to provide comprehensive training to the hundreds of young people who have passed through the institution, allowing them to transform their lives and train and grow as people. That is why the Spanish Embassy in Costa Rica, aware of this reality through the Ambassador Mrs. Eva Martinez Sánchez and the Consul Don Juan Sainz Herrero, who has maintained a good relationship with Boys’ Town, wanted to recognize this great work of social good and grant the Boys’ Town the Plaque of Honor of the Order of Isabella the Catholic.

This recognition is a distinction of the Spanish State, instituted by King Ferdinand VII on March 14, 1815, with the name of Royal and American Order of Isabella the Catholic, to reward the loyalty and the merits contracted in favor of the prosperity of those territories. Its current function is to reward those extraordinary projects of a civil nature carried out by Spaniards and foreigners that benefit the Nation or contribute in a relevant way to favor the relations of friendship and cooperation of the Spanish Nation with the rest of the International Community.

The ceremony of the delivery of this decoration took place on the morning of Sunday, May 14, on the deck of the training ship of the Spanish Navy “Juan Sebastian de Elcano,” which, in its passage through Costa Rica, docked in the port of Japdeva, on the coast of Limon, Costa Rica.

As an institution of social good, the CRC is proud of this decoration received in recognition of the effort of so many friars and other people who have made this reality possible over the years. This award encourages all the staff to continue the efforts of this institution in providing a promising future for all the boys educated and trained here.
