The Boys’ Town, socio-educational project of the Augustinian Recollects in the vicinity of Cartago (Costa Rica) is much more than a school (under the name of Technical College Agustiniano) or a boarding school dedicated to professional training workshops. New Lab
The Boys’ Town has just inaugurated its new Science Laboratory at the School Augustinian Technician, which includes a new space for the practical study of chemistry and biology, knowledge and proper use of instrumentation and practice of the method scientific. Students will learn in a direct and practical way to collect and analyze data, contrast scientific theories and develop skills such as systems thinking, critical and problem solving.

The mayor of Oreamuno, Erick Mauricio Jiménez Valverde, accompanied by his vice mayor and in charge of communal affairs, Juan Miguel Mora Masís, visited the Children’s City. Oreamuno, with almost 51,000 inhabitants, is canton number 7 in the province of Cartago. This visit is also part of the start of the 2023 admission process, so that the municipal authorities see in the Boys’ Town a friendly institution for the most vulnerable families in each region, where children can receive an education that allows them to break the vicious circles of poverty and lack of opportunities.
Motivational talk
Lastly, counselor Natalia Vega gave a special motivational talk to encourage the beneficiaries of the Children’s City to identify and create valid strategies that allow them to access their desires and turn their projects into reality.
The topic of the talk was “Motivation to achieve” and the students of the group participated in it. called “veterans”, beneficiaries who have special monitoring of the Guidance Department and with special support to achieve better performance academics.
