In the year of the Synod for the Amazon, from AgustinosRecoletos.org we want to remember one of the most significant moments in the history that has united the Augustinian Recollects with the Brazilian Amazon for almost a hundred years: the creation, consolidation and development of the Base Ecclesial Communities (CEBs) after the celebration of the Second Vatican Council.
From the hand of the Augustinian Recollect Jesús Moraza, one of the initiators of the implementation of CEBs and who was later bishop of the Prelature of Lábrea (1994-2016), we review that moment of creation of the first CEBs in the second half of the years 70 of the last century.
First, we will learn what a CEB is and how it works, helped by Gregorio Iriarte (†2012), contributor to the magazine Vida Nueva and author of the article What is a base ecclesial community?
