The project has a budget of 4,927.97 euros destined for the refurbishing and the refurnishing of the Physical Therapy ward and the rooms of the residents and was presented to the Sorority of Our Lady of Sorrow of Cerro Aguila (Seville) through the Haren Alde of Andalusia.

The Augustinian Recollect NGOD, Haren Alde, through its Delegation in Andalusia, the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Sorrow of Cerro Águila (Seville) presented a project aimed at refurbishing and refurnishing the physical therapy ward and the rooms of the St. Augustine Senior Citizens’ residence situated in La Virgen, a community of the Parish of St. Augustine in Puerto Viejo (Sarapiqui, Heredia, Costa Rica).

This Senior Citizens’ Center has a capacity for 30 residents who are in a state of discrimination and abandonment, most of them with some disabilities.. Inaugurated in 1995 the Center is financed through the contribution from the Parish with a small pubic financial help (25% of the budget) and the proceeds from the organization of several events through the year, resources that asure the operation of the services but don´t permit the renovation and replacement of the installations and equipments.

Along with the paid specialists in the staff, a group of volunteers from the St. Augustine Parish, usually get involved in the daily life of the Residence and organize the different activities of fund raising which finances this center of refuge.

If and when this project is approved those devices for physical exercises adapted to the needs of the residents and their recuperation therapies could be bought and the bed mattresses which are in very bad conditions could be replaced.
