On Saturday the 16th of October the parishes of St. Augustine’s and Holy Family united themselves with the Campaign of the National Rosary Crusade. Both parishes – together with the Guadalupe Centre- located in Union City, New Jersey have been attended by the Augustinian Recollects for more than twelve years.

On a cold and harsh Autumn Day, the faithful of the two parishes gathered together on the patio of Holy Family so that, before the image of Our Lady of the Rosary, they would be united with the campaign of the Holy Rosary, which for the third consecutive year has been held in the whole of the country. In hundreds of public places at the same hour the devotees of the Rosary gathered to recite this Marian prayer with the intention that God would help the Country.

There are many tragedies which afflict the United States. With this common prayer all the faithful wanted to intercede so that God would help the national community in these difficult times.

Last year they blessed the image of the Virgin on the patio of Holy Family, to help the Marian devotion. Mr. Sergio Villegas, one of the faithful of St. Augustine’s parish took charge of the gathering of the faithful from both parishes, to be joined together round the «image» to take part in the Rosary.

The weather discouraged many people, because the intense cold together with the strong wind meant many did not leave their homes. Nevertheless, they were many valiant people who drew near to the patio of Holy Family to unite themselves with the National Rosary Crusade. Also the prayer with Marian hymns finished with the consecration of the Virgin.
